Over the past two years, the Southern California Service Corps has continued to expand its mission of supporting the spirit of service and developing resources for community and nonprofit organizations throughout the Pomona Valley and surrounding communities.
Working alongside local partners, schools, nonprofits, artists, civic leaders, and youth organizations, SCSC has helped create opportunities that empower young people, strengthen neighborhoods, and encourage meaningful community engagement.
Youth Leadership & Civic Engagement
Through partnerships with organizations such as All Children Thrive California, Pomona's Promise, and local community stakeholders, SCSC supported youth-led civic engagement initiatives focused on parks, public spaces, community voice, and neighborhood improvement.
Young participants gained hands-on experience in:
Community outreach and survey development
Public speaking and advocacy
Digital storytelling and media production
Leadership development and civic participation
Collaborative problem solving and community planning
Programs encouraged youth to become active participants in shaping the future of their communities while developing practical skills for education and career growth.
Public Art & Creative Mentorship
SCSC also expanded its commitment to arts education and cultural enrichment through the Mentoring Arts & Culture: Art in Public Places Program in collaboration with the Pomona.
Emerging artists received mentorship and professional development opportunities related to:
Public art proposal development
Mural production
Community-based art projects
Budgeting and project planning
Networking with artists and community leaders
These initiatives helped beautify community spaces while supporting the next generation of local artists and creative leaders.
Community Media & Storytelling Through 3P Studios
Through its growing media initiative, 3P Studios, SCSC continued producing community-centered media projects designed to highlight local voices, nonprofit organizations, youth leadership, and positive community stories.
Recent projects included:
Community interviews and podcasts
Public service announcements (PSAs)
Youth-produced digital media
Event coverage and community storytelling
Volunteer and nonprofit spotlight videos
The organization also supported collaborative media efforts with schools, service organizations, and local nonprofits to increase visibility and strengthen community connections.
Volunteerism & Community Service
SCSC continued its longstanding commitment to volunteerism and restorative community service by supporting local service projects, neighborhood cleanups, youth mentorship opportunities, and partnerships with nonprofit and civic organizations throughout the region.
These efforts reflect the organization’s ongoing mission to inspire civic responsibility, creativity, collaboration, and service-based leadership.
Looking Ahead
As Southern California Service Corps continues to evolve, the organization remains committed to empowering youth, supporting nonprofits, strengthening community partnerships, and using creativity and service as tools for positive change.
From public art and media production to civic engagement and volunteerism, the past two years have demonstrated the power of collaboration in building a stronger and more connected community.
